So there has been a lot of this going on around here. It's fall time. That means Falling asleep, Falling in love, Falling leaves, Falling. Just plain falling. I do that sometimes. I fall, because I'm clumsy and that's all. We've been spending more time inside since we got this cold snap going on so we've had to think of creative ways to spend our time inside. Sometimes our creativity just poops out and we fall asleep. That's my favorite.
David always has more energy so he uses his creativity to play cowboys with Hyrum. Those are some Baaaad boys.
Happy Halloween everyone and Happy Election season! Get out there and VOTE!

Back Home
We said goodbye to David's sister Becky Patterson last week. Becky past away last Saturday, September 15th after a 2 year battle with leukemia. We were able to take a week off of work and life to go to Utah last week to spend time with David's family and attend Becky's funeral. Our heart's ache for Becky's wonderful and steadfast husband Garon and her three beautiful children. They will fare the worst in this story but we are grateful for Becky and the wonderful life she lived. We will miss her laugh and blushing at her frequent off-color jokes. David was able to give a really great talk at her funeral and the spirit we felt was so strong. I am so grateful for the gospel perspective we have. For the atonement of Jesus Christ, and for temples and the opportunity the we have to be with our families forever.

Summer 2012
Summers are for riding bikes, playing in the mud, enjoying the outdoors, and playing with friends, and that's exactly what we did this summer.
The kids learned to ride their bikes without training wheels!
We got dirty in the mud and dirt while we were camping at our family reunion. We also played hard with our Adams family and had tons of fun and I got about 2 picture of the whole thing so if anyone has any more, let me know.
We ate a lot of fresh veggies and berries from out garden and they were so delicious!
We went to Wilson Springs Pond a lot and fed the ducks.
We ran and played and got sunburned and swam and visited family and worked and went to bed late and ate popscicles and ice cream way more than was good for us. I guess you could say it's been a good summer, You can't ask for more than all of the wonderful things that we got to do. I love fall but I do hate saying goodbye to summer, I love the warm days and the flowers, the fresh food and the smell of a freshly mowed lawn, the sound of crickets singing at night, and eating lots of ice cream. I guess if I ever get lonely for summertime, I'll just break out a half gallon of Dreyer's and eat my cares away. It just might be a great Autumn after all. :)

Recentness
Just a few random things we've been up to.
Goofy boy |
Some nice people took a picture for us when we stopped at Kit's Diner in Horseshoe Bend. It's a quaint little cafe right on the Payetter river. Super cute, but don't get their pizza. |
Easter birthdays
Clare's birthday this year was the friday before easter so we combined two of my favorite things, easter and Clare to have an easter birthday celebration at Carla's house. Shelby and Adam hid eggs for the kids. They had a blast finding them and as a bonus, they also found a baby bunny! Well, actually the cats found the bunny and we rescued it.
Getting ready to hunt easter eggs with the hunters and hiders. |
filling their baskets |
Counting up the loot. |
He just wanted a little taste, it looked so good, and it didn't mess up the cake too bad! Poor little Carson sampled the cake before we had a chance to stop him. He was pretty sad when he got caught. |
Clare the birthday girl. Love this little girl who is getting so big. I wish she could stay like this forever. |

The second most wonderful time of the year
If Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, then easter is the second most wonderful time of the year. In my eyes, it's a tossup between the two. I LOVE easter. For the reasons listed in the printout below. If you are looking for a fun easter decoration that the kids can help you with, you could do the easter banner that I have above. Just cut strips of varying widths of scrapbook paper then have the kids paste them on a little square of paper. When it dries, cut them out in the shape of an egg and put holes in them. For the letters, I just transfered the letters using carbon paper, cu them out with my exacto knife, then pasted the colored paper I wanted on the back. Easy. The kids had a ton of fun!

The prettiest fruit contest
We saw this interesting but very flashy fruit at the grocery store the other day and despite its steep $3.50 price tag, decided to try it. It's called a dragon fruit and is by far the prettiest fruit I've ever seen.
David cut it up. Still pretty on the inside!(There is probably an important life lesson in here somewhere...)
We and the kids stuffed our faces. The texture was like a kiwi but the taste was suprisingly bland. For all it's flashiness on the outside, there wasn't all of the sweetness and pleasant fruity tast on the inside (another life lesson can be inserted in here.) But it does win the prettiest fruit award because I would probably buy it just to look at it's lovely colors. I know....Shallow
David's project
One of David's bigger projects early this spring was expanding our garden and building some garden boxes. He did three and plans to do more next year. He did an amazing job and it looks awesome. We even have one full of some raspberry starts that we got from my sister. Thanks Carla and Scott for digging them out in the semi-dark and cold. They are all poking out little tiny leafs already! I'm so excited! We also planted our cool weather plants in another one. We planted sugar snap peas, snow peas, red wing lettuce, and spinich. Hopefully they decided to grow even though its still pretty chilly some days.
Doesn't it look awesome! David is so talented.

Beautifying
I've suprisingly been able to get a few things done around here. I've mostly been working on my room. Last summer I got the dresser refinished, put up some temporary curtains etc. This spring, I was able to get a bedspread that I love, a few pillows, (I need one more from Hobby Lobby that I've got my eye on.) get a few lamps and re-cover the lamp shades. I finally got the bedside table finished and a cute basket to put under it, I just barely got done with the cedar chest that David got for me the second Christmas we were married. I still need permanent curtains, paint the walls, a headboard and, of course, new flooring. You know, the BIG stuff. Here is what the cedar chest and our bed looked like before. Nice orange color. Warms up the room right?

What the?
Yeah! I can post again! For a long time, I would write something and then go to publish the post and it just... wouldn't. I don't know why, but now it will let me so here we are! That's why the previous two posts seem so random... they were written months ago! So here are a few things to catch up on. My Dad broke his femur a couple of days before christmas and was in the hospital so we couldn't go to my parents house to celebrate christmas like we had planned. It was really disapointing but we had a good christmas here. Unfortunately, my Dad's christmas could have been better.
Fallon loved drawing on Clare's art easel that she got from santa
Clare had tons of fun playing the guitar from Santa.
Hyrum loved riding the electric Hummer that Santa found on Craigslist for super cheap. Esther enjoyed stuffing her face full of delicious goodies. And David had fun playing with all of the kids' fun toys.
Now we are just waiting out the winter so that David can start work again and I can start working in the yard. It is snowing for the first time this winter. Yaaaaah! Hopefully we will be able to go sledding before it is all rained away tomorrow.
